Elected by the General Assembly on August 10, 2021 to an eight-year term beginning September 1, 2021 to fill a vacancy created by the 2021 expansion of the Court of Appeals from 11 to 17 judges. Service terminated by his election as a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
